About

I'm a first time chicken keeper and this blog started off with selfish connotations, I wanted to remember events involving my feathered friends. In particular chronicling the lives of Penguin and Buffy, from hatching to adulthood. It reminds me of what I have tried (and failed) and milestone events. I'm located in Adelaide and recently moved to the Hell Hills (it's so cold up here!).

Through my research on chicken keeping, I have found you can make it as hard or as easy as you want, it depends on how you see your chickens; pets or egg producers. For me, they are pets. It's hard not to see them that way when you watch their antics in the garden. How some demand to be picked up and how some just love human company.

So what's with the Japanese tamago (egg)?  What can I say, I've always loved Japanese culture and was lucky enough to go visit that country last year. So yes, obsessed with Japanese stuff. Oh, I originally hail from Malaysia, did a stint in the UK and settled in Adelaide. You should be warned, as an Asian, I am slightly food obsessed, so you may see egg recipes (or possibly non egg recipes, whatever takes my fancy) that I tried. Also a cell biologist/material scientist/lab manager. Now you know what scientists do in their spare time.
