Giving your chicken a haircut - Special DumDum issue

Moult season is over for DumDum and she has nice fluffy feathers to keep her warm throughout winter. The only problem is that she has a nice head of feathers that seems to be obscuring her vision.
For a normal chicken, this probably wouldn't be too much of an issue, her sister DeeDee has a much larger pom pom head and has no problem. But this is our special DumDum chicken who takes problems like this to a whole new level.

Problem number 1, she spends a lot of time doing this:

Doesn't look too bad. Look at this from this angle
When I say she spends a lot of time with her head like this, I mean a LOT of time. She even sleeps like this. At first I thought she was just being her usual weird self and trying something new, but we noticed she was walking around like this, standing like this and sleeping with her head back.

Then we noticed she had even more trouble than usual aiming for her food. At night, we would find her on the ground rather than up on the perch. It involved us picking her up and placing her back onto the perch. We were a bit perplexed as we put in a ramp just for her to get up there, there must have been another reason why she wasn't going on.

She also kept on getting "lost" where she would be wandering around (with her head back), screaming for the others to find her.

DeeDee has a full head of feathers and yes, she too has trouble seeing things directly in front of her, but she moves her head to see from the side, so she has no problem eating her food and seeing where to go.

"What? Who said that?"
"I can just see you!"
So what did we do for DumDum?
Cut the feathers around her eyes. With one person holding her, we just used kitchen scissors to remove the feathers around her eyes.
And the result?

She still has a bit of a habit in keeping her head back, but her aim has definitely improved. She doesn't get "lost" too much either and the best thing, she climbs onto the perch by herself every night.

I think she's pleased?

Anyway, it's freezing tonight, the wind is howling and the rain is pouring. I'm off to bed so I can get up early to cuddle much chickens.
